The Story

~"She was so beautiful it frightened him." - Chapter 7, Loc 3652

When I first started reading this series, I will not lie, it felt a little rough. Book 1 was short, not a lot happened, and the writing style was a bit . . . young. Book 2 improved on all this with a larger story, plenty of action and drama, and the syntax of the author's writing improved excellently.

Now I've finished Book 3, and let me say, everything about this book was superb. Not only was it a good, long read, but the plot of the story has grown to the point where secrets are being revealed, which is always awesome.

All the characters had plenty of growth in personality. In a way, Kevin's personality is much like the writing style to the series. In Book 1, he was a fairly nice guy but he had some growing to do. But here, in Book 3, he's gone through some changes and his maturity is impressive. The dialogue is especially fun to read aloud. But, then again, it always is.

Again, the writing style is FAR better now, which I think shows the experience the author has gone through in creating this series. It's truly something to smile at when your style improves as you go about with your creations. Trust me, I know the feeling.

So there you have it. I won't give any spoilers, but Book 3, "A Fox's Maid", stands proud and strong. If you liked the first two books, you're going to love the third.

The only real complaint I have is the illustrations being too small. In the last few books, they covered the page, but here they're in thumb-nail form in the upper left-hand corner.

PROS:
-Charming story
-Characters development
-Plenty of Action and Emotion
-Writing style is better
-Lovely artwork

CONS:
-The size of the artwork.

"A Fox's Maid" gets a 9.5 out of 10. ~

The Tail of a Boy, a Kitsune, and... a Kitsune Maid?!

Kevin Swift doesn’t know what to think anymore. His love for Lindsay has dwindled, his mind is constantly plagued by thoughts of Lilian, and now he has to deal with his sexy housemate’s maid: A kimono-clad, katana-wielding femme fatale who doesn't like him very much—and who has this weird tendency of adding Japanese suffixes to everyone’s name for some reason. Go figure. Now Kevin must make an irreversible choice: To become Lilian’s mate or not. It’s a life changing decision that no teenager should have to make.

Unfortunately for him, Lilian’s maid has basically threatened to clean out his entrails with her katana if he doesn't. He used to think being a teenager sucked. Now he’s realized that being a teenager is nothing compared to being the potential mate to a kitsune whose maid holds no moral compunctions about flaying him alive.
